Ganzhou Supply Chain April Expansion Event

On May 12, 2018, Ganzhou Supply Chain held a one-day outdoor team-building training titled “Unite Us, Create Great Achievements.”
At the very beginning of the expansion, all members were divided into three small teams, each of which adopted a team name and designed its own slogan, team flag, and team song—thus establishing a basic understanding of and sense of belonging to the team. The formation of a team requires its own unique team culture, enabling members to feel a strong sense of identity and ownership toward their team and providing a solid foundation for building shared goals and aspirations.
After a brief warm-up, we embarked on a team activity called “Crossing the Swamp”: Using a single long wooden plank and three oil drums, all team members had to move forward 20 meters without any of them touching the ground or letting both ends of the plank touch the ground simultaneously. In this challenge, everyone tapped into their collective wisdom, quickly devising a plan of action and continuously refining it through practical trial and error. Working together with one heart and one mind, we successfully completed the task. Although at first we might have felt overwhelmed and unsure where to begin, through brainstorming, repeated experimentation, and constant refinement of our approach—and buoyed by each other’s encouragement—we ultimately managed to accomplish what initially seemed impossible.
The second team project is rock climbing—a challenge that many people may never have tried before. Standing tall at 8 meters, the rock wall can seem daunting at first glance. Yet, under the guidance of the coach and the encouragement of teammates, as you climb step by step, the wall gradually becomes smaller and less intimidating. Although it’s a difficult task, what matters even more is the breakthrough it represents. Just like in our daily work, when we encounter difficulties, we should focus on overcoming them rather than running away. Only through persistence can we see victory—by conquering all our fears and staying committed to the very end.
The third team project is called “Message Relay.” As the message passes from one person to another, it tends to become distorted—just like in everyday work, when a superior communicates a task to a subordinate, the subordinate inevitably processes and modifies the information during its execution. Therefore, in our daily work, to accomplish tasks efficiently, we must engage in effective communication, minimize information distortion, or shorten the chain of information transmission.
The fourth team project is called “Moving Forward Together.” It requires all team members to run as quickly as possible to a circle about 20 meters away, where they must sequentially flip over 26 randomly arranged number cards. After completing this task, they must return to the starting point. This project emphasizes division of labor and cooperation among team members—each member has a specific role and responsibility, and the entire team moves forward together without leaving anyone behind. It’s crucial to plan carefully before taking action.
The fifth team project is called “Unite and Conquer the World.” It requires all team members to cross an obstacle that’s about 1.5 meters high without touching any of the barriers. This project fully demonstrates the team’s cohesion: teammates divide tasks and collaborate closely, treating each other like family. They step on each other’s shoulders, bravely reaching the finish line as a united team—never giving up on or abandoning any teammate. Together, they form a single, cohesive unit, working tirelessly toward a shared goal.
Team culture, a sense of belonging, division of labor and collaboration, mutual assistance, effective communication, absolute trust, and cohesion—all these constitute the fundamental elements of an outstanding team. As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work.” Through this team-building exercise, we’ve broadened our horizons and deeply understood the essence of teamwork. This is not merely a simple training session; rather, it’s a philosophy, a culture, and a belief. Only by forming a true team can we fully unleash our collective strength. Without the mutual cooperation and joint efforts of every team member, many tasks simply cannot be accomplished. While one person might be able to move quickly on their own, only a team can go farther and achieve greater success. Similarly, a great enterprise must have a harmonious and highly efficient team—comprising decision-makers with exceptional qualities and collaborators who each fulfill their roles and bring their unique talents to the table. By fostering an outstanding corporate culture and strengthening team cohesion, we can ensure that our enterprise thrives. Most importantly, each of us must cultivate a team-oriented mindset, actively integrate into the company, and do our utmost to contribute to its success—just as the slogan of this team-building exercise reminds us: "Unite us, and together we’ll create remarkable achievements."
