　　The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. Since then, “the new era” has become an important research topic for party and government agencies at all levels across the country, as well as for enterprises, institutions, and even individuals. The “new era” represents a fresh new positioning, imbuing it with richer content and a renewed historical mission. Only by truly understanding the new era and grasping its profound implications can we forge ahead confidently on this broader and more expansive stage.

　　“The new era is an era for those who strive,”—this is General Secretary Xi’s interpretation and expectation of the strivers in the new era. Looking back at the glorious and splendid history of the Chinese nation, striving has always been the tremendous force driving the wheels of history forward. The radiant truth of striving has illuminated the land of China and has long since become a source of wisdom for the Chinese people as they pursue happiness. Yet, in the new era, the role assigned to those who strive is higher than ever before; the call to strive is louder and more urgent than ever, offering strivers even greater opportunities to realize their dreams.

　　So, what exactly is our new era? At the 2017 Annual Awards Ceremony of Feishang Group, Chairman Li Feilie called in his report: “We must strive, dare to strive, and know how to strive—embracing the spirit of struggle as we step into this new era.” Drawing on Feishang’s own strengths and more than a decade of business successes and setbacks, he articulated a new business mindset for Feishang in the context of the new era. This represents a theoretical exploration of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and also serves as a practical implementation by industrial enterprises seeking to achieve remarkable accomplishments in this new era. From the very beginning of its founding, the people of Feishang have understood that there are no free lunches in this world; only through hard work can we succeed and only through persistent effort can our enterprise thrive. And the best kind of striving is to respond to the call of the Party Central Committee, to share the same destiny and breathe together with the times, and to contribute our part to the new era of the Chinese nation.

　　“To strive” calls upon us to possess the confidence and courage to bravely shoulder the heavy responsibility of national rejuvenation; “to dare to strive” demands that we have the boldness and fortitude to fearlessly make sacrifices in pursuit of our grand goals; and “to know how to strive” requires us to harness our wit and intelligence to fight skillfully and ingeniously. In the new era, Feishang’s distinctive new thinking, new models, and new mechanisms constitute its core competencies for the new era—these are the crystallization of Feishang’s wisdom and also serve as the guiding principles for Feishang’s endeavors in this new age. Whether it’s resource integration or industrial layout, wisdom permeates every stage of Feishang’s development. “Embracing the new era with a striving mindset” calls upon every Feishang employee not only to strive and dare to strive, but also to know how to strive—with wisdom.
