On the morning of October 6, local time in Bolivia, Andes Smelting Co., Ltd. of Bolivia—a subsidiary of China Natural Resources Co., Ltd. (CHNR)—produced its first batch of electrolytic copper, marking the full completion of the company’s wet-process copper smelting technology.

Despite low local administrative efficiency and extreme difficulties in resource allocation, the management team of Anda Smelting Co., Ltd. has, after 10 months of painstaking trials and project improvements, successfully overcome technical challenges such as anode corrosion, crushing, and filter pressing. The company has also independently designed its own process and organized personnel to carry out foundational construction and installation and commissioning of certain equipment. At the same time, it has engaged in active communication with relevant government departments and local communities in Bolivia, gaining their understanding and support. Currently, the company is essentially ready for pilot production and will be able to commence formal production once it obtains the “Environmental Protection Certificate” and receives approval from the local mining administration authorities.

The trial production and operation of the copper hydrometallurgical smelting project provide strong support for Anda Smelting Co., Ltd. in leveraging Bolivia’s copper ore resources, and also hold significant reference value for Feishang Group in terms of copper hydrometallurgical technology and overseas investment.
