Guangxi Zhaohua Seed Industry donates 2.5 million yuan worth of seedlings to help disaster-stricken communities in flood relief efforts.

　　From late June to early July, northern Guangxi experienced consecutive bouts of heavy rain, torrential rain, and intense rainfall, triggering flooding in many areas. As of 6 p.m. on July 4, 344 townships and 2,340 villages across the region had been affected by the disaster. The area of crops damaged reached 658,830 mu, with 255,520 mu severely affected and 41,780 mu completely lost. The direct economic loss to the agricultural sector amounted to 484.2859 million yuan.


　　This disaster has severely affected crops such as rice, corn, sugarcane, and vegetables; some cash crops are even facing the prospect of total crop failure. To accelerate the recovery of agricultural production in the affected areas, the Guangxi Seed Association issued an appeal, urging seed companies in Guangxi to uphold the fine tradition of “when one region is in distress, support comes from all directions” and actively donate seeds to the disaster-stricken areas. Guangxi Zhaohe Seed Industry Co., Ltd. responded to this call and donated seeds worth 2.5 million yuan to the affected regions.


　　On July 10, at the 2017 Guangxi Agricultural Enterprise Disaster Relief Supplies Donation Ceremony hosted by the Autonomous Region’s Department of Agriculture, Deputy Director Xie Dong expressed gratitude to the numerous agricultural enterprises for their enthusiastic donations of relief supplies to the disaster-stricken areas. He also urged agricultural enterprises to bravely shoulder their social responsibilities and contribute to rural development.


　　Wang Yanting, Deputy General Manager of Zhaohe Seed Industry, attended the donation ceremony on behalf of the company and delivered a speech. She said, “Farmers are the gods of our seed industry enterprises—without farmers, there would be no seed companies like ours. Now that people in the disaster-stricken areas are facing difficulties, our company should extend a helping hand to assist them through this challenging time. In July 2014, when Typhoon Wimerson struck Guangxi, Zhaohe donated seeds worth 4 million yuan to the affected regions. Today, once again, Zhaohe is doing its small part to help minimize the losses suffered by the people in those areas.”
