Dahé Medical’s Zhumadian Tumor Hospital is establishing a “Specialized Oncology Consortium” in southeastern Henan Province.

　　Starting in June, at the invitation of the Zhumadian Tumor Hospital, a medical team composed of specialists from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Henan Provincial People's Hospital, and Henan Provincial Cancer Hospital began visiting the Zhumadian Tumor Hospital. Utilizing holidays and precious spare time during regular workdays, this team has been providing long-term medical services to the residents of Tianzhong (a nickname for Zhumadian City).

　　This initiative aims to establish a new model of specialized medical consortium characterized by "government guidance and support, joint construction by provincial experts and cancer hospitals, and tangible benefits for the people of Tianzhong." The invited experts include surgical specialists, chemotherapy specialists, radiation therapy specialists, interventional therapy specialists, and others. The program covers the entire continuum—from tumor prevention and diagnosis to treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up care—gradually facilitating tiered medical care and two-way referrals between secondary and tertiary medical institutions.

　　Li Wenge, a 50-something employee at a fertilizer plant and a patient with thyroid disease, said excitedly, “The TV reported that provincial experts will be providing long-term consultations at the Cancer Hospital, so I came here early. It’s so convenient to have specialists from the provincial capital treat us without even leaving home!”

　　Professor Li Guowen, the oncology radiation therapy expert invited to this event, is from Xiping County in Zhumadian. He currently serves as the director of the Second Department of Oncology Radiation Therapy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. He is Henan Province’s first doctoral graduate in oncology radiation therapy and the province’s first nationally-funded overseas student in the field of radiation therapy. He explained: “The primary methods for cancer treatment include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and others. Approximately 70% of cancer patients require radiation therapy. At present, in the entire southeastern Henan region, aside from the relatively advanced radiation therapy equipment at Zhumadian Central Hospital, other medical institutions still lag far behind. This situation is severely disproportionate to the local residents’ strong demand for high-quality medical resources. My goal is to introduce the most advanced radiation therapy equipment, cultivate talent in radiation therapy, and build the radiation therapy department at Zhumadian Cancer Hospital into one of the top radiation therapy centers in southeastern Henan, thereby benefiting the people of my hometown.”

　　It is reported that many medical experts have emerged from Zhumadian, including Professor Zhang Guojun, Chairman of the Henan Provincial Respiratory Medicine Committee; Professor Qin Yanru, Chairman of the Henan Provincial Oncology Committee; Professor Li Hailiang, Chairman of the Henan Provincial Interventional Therapy Committee; and Professor Mingliang, Chairman of the Henan Provincial Medical Laboratory Science Committee. Whenever they hear the call from their hometown, they eagerly and proactively step forward to make their own contributions to its development.

　　Li Guowen expressed with deep affection: “It is the mountains and rivers of Zhumadian that have nurtured me. I will selflessly dedicate my knowledge to my hometown folks, bringing the best cancer treatment protocols from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University to the people of my hometown, so that they can receive the same quality of care right here in Zhumadian, without having to travel to the provincial capital.”
