On July 12, the Group’s Human Resources Department invited experts in forest product chemistry to the Group’s headquarters to deliver a special lecture on “Building a Forestry Industry Chain Based on Pine.” The lecture provided an in-depth overview of topics including the comprehensive utilization of the entire pine tree, the chemical industry applications of pine resin, forest land development, forest land management, standardized practices for resin tapping operations, advanced processing products, supporting industrial policies, and related projects. Group leaders Wu Yuqing and Zhang Xiaoping attended the lecture.

Combining specific case studies, the expert carefully reviewed and explained key aspects including the main procedures for afforestation on barren hills, requirements for acquiring established forest resources, methods for acquiring forest rights, cost calculations, risk control strategies, development of under-forest economies, resin tapping procedures, and resin-tapping technologies. He pointed out that pine resin is an important commodity used in daily life, industry, and military applications, with global annual demand reaching approximately 1 million tons. Seventy percent of this supply comes from China, and demand is growing at a rate of 5% to 8%. However, domestically only 10% of pine resin products are refined—compared to 87% in the United States—while the rest remain largely unrefined, yielding extremely low added value. As a vital forestry resource, deepening the development of pine resin into a green and environmentally friendly industry is highly consistent with national and provincial industrial policies.

At the end of the lecture, headquarters staff, drawing on the current state of management and operations in the group’s forestry and chemical industry, engaged in a lively exchange with the expert on topics including forest land rights confirmation, forest resource surveys and assessments, industrial chain extension, and base scale.
